About Civilcast
Civilcast is a leading manufacturer and distributor of civil construction products, founded in 2010 by John McQuaid. Since its acquisition by private shareholders in 2018, the company has expanded rapidly with manufacturing in Cowra and Stapylton, and distribution centres across NSW, Victoria and South Australia.
Supplying stormwater pits, pipes, grates, precast products and agricultural solutions, Civilcast serves contractors, builders, developers, councils and farmers, and needed systems to match its growing scale.
The breadth of experience across the Annexa team has brought a lot of value. They really buy into our business, bringing a level of involvement and passion about getting things done right and fast. Having a reliable partner who responds quickly and accurately has been a huge plus.Ben ThorncroftSupply Chain & Systems Manager, Civilcast
the challenge
Recognising the limits of underutilisation
NetSuite had been Civilcast’s backbone for years, but it wasn’t being pushed to its full potential. Over time, the business had slipped into a cycle of exporting data and patching processes outside the system. Spreadsheets became the fallback for finance, supply chain and operations, leaving teams working in silos instead of through a unified platform. As Civilcast expanded across regions, the cracks widened – and the need to turn NetSuite into a fully leveraged engine for efficiency and visibility became the obvious next step.

the results
Finding value in what’s already there
Civilcast engaged Annexa for a NetSuite optimisation review – a structured program that combines workshops, detailed process analysis and a comprehensive system report. Designed to uncover what’s working, what’s not and what to prioritise, the review set out immediate quick wins, as well as longer-term optimisation goals. The process surfaced a wide range of opportunities to improve how NetSuite was being used across finance, manufacturing, supply chain and operations.
From there, Civilcast engaged Annexa to act on some key recommendations. Fixed asset management, previously handled offline in spreadsheets, was migrated into NetSuite to create a single source of truth. Larger automation projects were also launched, with scripts now pulling in Bills of Materials from other systems, auto-populating transaction records and streamlining customer journeys that once stretched over weeks. These changes have turned processes that previously absorbed days into tasks completed in minutes.
For finance, the review also pinpointed areas where existing features could replace manual workarounds. Standard NetSuite records such as vendor prepayments and customer deposits have taken the place of manual workarounds, smoothing day-to-day workflows.
